Release Notes

This is a rough description of the basic details. I'll provide more instructions on exactly what I did so anyone can follow along!

Step 1: Create a WSS v3 site on your server in the default zone. Use windows authentication.
Step 2: Extend this site. Use the Internet zone and windows authentication.
Step 3: Enable a ASPNETDB in SQL Express 2005, add two users: "webmaster" and "guest". Rolls are not important.
Step 4: Using the FBA code from Step 3, add this to the Internet zone web.config file, and the WSS Central Administration web.config
Step 5: In Central Administration, change the Internet zone authentication to forms and add the forms provider you crafted in step 3 and used again in step 4.
Step 6: In Central Administration, Site Collection Administrators, add the "webmaster" account as the Secondary site collection administrator.
Step 7: Now login to your Internet zone site using the FBA "webmaster" account. Add the "guest" account to the list of people. Logout.
Step 8: Here's the KEY TRICK! Modify the global.asax file for the Internet zone site with the enclosed file.
Step 9: IIS reset for good measure. Also flush your cookie store on your browser just in case.

Now when you visit your Internet zone site, it will have the typical "sign-in". If you click anywhere on the site, the "guest" account will auto-magically appear, "Welcome guest". You can now assign this account to lists and work-flows.
